# tare > Same work, fewer tokens, with the receipt. Tare reads the session logs Claude Code keeps on disk, > prices every API call at list prices, shows where the tokens and money went, installs cache-safe > fixes, and measures cost per commit before and after. Local, free, never calls a model. Status: v0.1.0, open source (Apache-2.0). Install: npx tarelab. Source: https://github.com/priberry-data/tarelab. Contact: hello@priberry.com. Built by Priberry (also makes Crumple, https://crumple.priberry.com). ## Commands - `tare` (or `tare wrapped`): spend and attribution for the last 30 days. `--days N`, `--all`, `--json`. - `tare card`: shareable 1200x630 card (SVG, PNG download) and post text. Nothing is uploaded. - `tare fix [--dry-run] [--undo] [--scope user|project]`: PostToolUse output trim for Bash, and a status line with a cache-warm countdown. Backs up settings first. - `tare receipt`: cost per commit before vs after the fixes, 90% bootstrap range, finish rate check; "not enough data" under 8 finished sessions per side. - `tare mcp`: MCP server over stdio. Tools: tare_wrapped, tare_receipt, tare_cache. ## Terms - API-equivalent: what the work would cost at Anthropic API list prices; subscriptions are billed flat. - Carry cost: a tool output's cost of staying in context: one cache write, then a cache read on every later call until compaction. - Coffee-break tax: the prompt cache expires after 5 minutes idle (1 hour on the long cache), so the next call rewrites the whole context.
